AskRI Spring Update

You can always count on access to AskRI resources to remain easy and robust. We are working with our vendors to ensure easy access for all Rhode Islanders during this unprecedented time.

Tumble Book Library

TumbleBook Library is available via AskRI through August 31, 2020. It is a collection of animated talking picture books, read-alongs, ebooks, quizzes, lesson plans, and educational games. These links can be posted from any library website, and do not require library cards or other forms of authentication. Download TumbleBook Library graphics to use on your library’s site.

We are working with all of our vendors to ensure your patrons and students can continue to access AskRI resources without needing a library card. A few adjustments:

Mango – Any new Mango users can use the guest access option from home.

AtoZ – If your users encounter this screen, they should enter “RI2020” to proceed the database.

EBSCOHost databases – If the EBSCOHost system encounters an IP address not located in Rhode Island, it may ask for a zip code.  Enter any 5 digit RI zip code to proceed.

EBSCO Learning Express Library – Functioning normally.

World Book – Functioning normally.

REMINDER: This is a good time to check your AskRI links. Direct links are available from the AskRI.org home page and our Links page. We have also updated our text file of AskRI links.

A Belated Welcome to Jeremy Ferris!

Jeremy Ferris joined the AskRI team in late November. Jeremy recently earned his library degree from Simmons University, and completed his undergraduate work in Brain & Cognitive Science and Studio Arts at the University of Rochester. Jeremy will manage the AskRI.org website, and help with troubleshooting, marketing and outreach. Jeremy is very familiar with AskRI.org services, and previously worked as an AskRI Project Assistant. Jeremy is also Digital Content Manager at the Providence Public Library.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements of new resources!
